The smug arrogance of "having the truth".
by stuckinarut2 inhas anyone noticed that witnesses (from the top down) seem to have a quiet form of smug arrogance toward all non witnesses?.
perhaps it comes from being told how "special and unique" they are but they end up looking down on all normal members of the community because they are not witnesses.. so any form of "love" they show those in the territory is also limited as long as they accept the message...otherwise they are viewed contemptuously as "worldly" and therefore of little value...after all,they will be destroyed right?.

Juxtapositioned against being meek, lowly, humble, submissive... a worm... a grasshopper... nothing but dust... a weak, inferior, fleshly organism... unworthy... sinful... imperfect... unrighteous... undeserving of kindness... doomed...
And then, footstep followers, blessed by the sovereign of the universe... clean, righteous, holy, moral, like a pig washed from his mud, like a dog not eating his vomit... a precious pearl... highly valued in god’s eyes... blessed with special knowledge and insight, saved from the wicked world... upstanding... a glory to the nations, a spectacle to the world... (the JWs somehow thought that was a good thing, the spectacle to the world thing, where people would oooh and aaah at our holiness and uprightness...)
Yes, omg, I think I even have some wrinkle lines of total smugness still etched on my face... but they are changing...
I remember once even praying, “Oh Jehovah, thank you that I have the truth, and that I am not like these sinful, worldly people all around me...” and then I stopped cold, because I sounded JUST LIKE the Pharisee who was praying how thankful he was that he was not like those sinners... I remember feeling very confused and not knowing what to think... the cognitive dissonance was strong at times...
And yes, I totally agree with Sparky that JWs do not have the market on arrogance smugness... I see it and recognize it instantly with any person or group or religion who also holds similar, superior types of views ... which I now find very sad, divisive, and un-enlightened ...

another known fact is these top leading men were not academically trained bible scholars.
the first leading executive writer of the wts was a professional clothing salesman/ businessman.

WT / JW Doctrine ,Satan cast out of Heaven in 1914 ? He has always had access to the earth ? Since Eve .
by smiddy3 inthis doctrine / belief that jehovah`s witnesses have , surely raises a few questions that they do not address.. 1.this spirit being challenged god by questioning his authority and offering eve an alternative making himself satan.. and this took place on earth ,the garden of eden.
so he who became satan had access to the earth.. 2. all throughout the old testament , the hebrew scriptures do we find examples of satan interfering with gods plan of things either by himself or his followers .. 3.their are just too many examples to list individually ,however a few key ones would be , the nephilim , job when god in heaven asks him where he has been , and his reply , from roving about on the earth .
, etc.etc.. 4.and of course in the new testament , where jesus is taken up into a mountain to be tempted by satan for fourty days ?.

A few memorable characters from various KHs over the years:
- two extremely obese sisters who roomed together and had horrific fights and would call the elders on each other. They would rip doors off and overturn the kitchen table in their fights.
- another very obese sister who had no car and who expected everybody to pick her up and take her to meetings and out in field service, etc. Trouble was, she had to urinate every 10 minutes and everyone needed to be able to accommodate her urgent... needs. She never once ever offered anyone money for fuel.
- another sister with a small bladder who was a bit more practical and would pee behind or beside a bush. (Erm, this person would actually be me! Haha!) The sister with her in field service would stand in front of her or behind, holding up a coat to shelter her (me) with, LOL.
- a pioneer brother who made his living selling Avon products to the sisters. He desperately hoped to marry someone. Anyone. Right now.
- a Circuit Overseer who, for EVERY TALK OR LOCAL NEED, would bring out the evils and sins of oral sex. He would drool and spit as he frothed on about it. *shudder*
- a young pioneer brother who bought himself - get this - gasp! - a 2-door sports car!!
- a young brother returning from Bethel who expected everyone to be bedazzled by him and worship him and provide him with all his needs. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen someone behave so arrogantly and with such a feeling of entitlement... oh wait... Donald Trump suddenly comes to mind.
- cruel elders, elders with dementia, elders on power trips...
- sisters like sharks against each other when an eligible brother appears in their midst...
- ... elderettes....
